Each time we come to the Lord's Supper, God seals to us again the promise that we are God's children, that he has forgiven our sin, and that we will receive the promise of new life with him in the new creation. Amazingly, Abraham received the same promises, sealed in the covenant of grace made thousands of years ago and recorded in Genesis 15. We will consider how God has always dealt with his people "covenantally," from Abraham until today.

Twice in Lord's Day 4, the Heidelberg Catechism refers to God's just punishment for sin as eternal. What does that mean? And how can that be just? We will study various scripture passages to find out focusing our attention on Psalm 36.

Luke 2:14 records the famous words of the song of the angels: "Gloria in excelsis Deo!" We will study this song to understand what the angels meant when they declared "peace on earth and good will toward men".
