In Hebrews 2:5-18, the author encourages the congregation to persevere in the faith by holding up Jesus as the hero we all want to be -- the true man crowned with glory and honour.

Is hell (eternal, conscious punishment) a just consequence of rejecting faith in Christ? We will study Luke 16:19-31 to find out.

We continue our study of the book of Hebrews, focussing on chapter 3:1-6, where the author compares Jesus to the greatest hero of the Old Testament: Moses.

Tonight we bridge from our last series on objections to the Christian faith to the next series on the cross of Christ.  People often ask, "Why was the crucifixion necessary? Can't God just forgive? Why did Jesus have to die? It seems cruel." We'll address this objection as we consider 2 Corinthians 5:16-21.

Why must Christians work hard to persevere in the faith? Because if they do not, according to Hebrews 3:7-19, they may never enter God's eternal rest.
