Genesis 3 recounts how humankind fell into sin, rebelling against the loving authority of the God who made us. We will think together about why that is at the root of all the world's problems and what the remedy for those problems must be.

Question 2 of the Heidelberg Catechism lays out three elements of the gospel message that we must understand to live and die in the joy of the comfort of belonging to Jesus. As we will see tomorrow evening and next week, to exclude any of those three elements is to end up with an incomplete -- and distorted -- gospel.

HC Q#2 says there are three things we need to know to live in joy of belonging to Jesus. Amazingly, each aspect helps us better understand the other two. We will see how as we study 1 John 1:8-2:6.
